Baba Partners with The Stroke Foundation to Support Survivors and Families After Stroke

Today we’re proud to announce a partnership with The Stroke Foundation, a national nonprofit dedicated to helping stroke survivors and their caregivers navigate life after stroke. Together, we’re working to make sure no family has to manage the long road of recovery on their own.

Founded by stroke survivor Dr. Gabriela Raso and her family, The Stroke Foundation exists to close the gap between hospital discharge and long-term recovery. Through its Stroke Survivor Fund, Caregiving Fund, free talk therapy, and educational resources, the foundation has connected with thousands of survivors and families across the country.

“Recovery after a stroke is fragmented and incredibly stressful,” said Florencia Rago, Executive Director of The Stroke Foundation. “Families leave the hospital and suddenly everything feels urgent and unfamiliar: new therapies, new equipment, new specialists, new bills. Baba’s whole-person support reduces that mental load from families’ shoulders, and we believe it’s the best tool available for stroke survivors and the people who love them.”

For Baba, this work is personal.

“I started Baba after seeing what a stroke did to my own family,” said Connor Sweeney, founder of Baba. “My grandmother was left with aphasia, and for the rest of her life she’ll need occupational therapy, speech therapy, physical therapy, and home modifications. Coordinating all of that fell on our family, and it was exhausting. Every family going through this deserves someone in their corner who knows how the system works.”

Through the partnership, stroke survivors and caregivers connected to The Stroke Foundation can work with a dedicated Baba advocate who helps coordinate therapies, appointments, home modifications, and the many decisions that follow a stroke. Baba’s advocates are covered by Medicare, Medicare Advantage, and Medicaid in some states, and are available at little to no cost for most families, depending on their coverage.

Baba is built with a level of clinical rigor that’s rare in care coordination, with leadership from the Mount Sinai Health System, so families get support that’s grounded in real medical expertise.
