Payment responsibility

What you may owe, and when

Most eligible clients pay $0 out of pocket for Baba. When your plan does leave you a share, you see it only after insurance has paid its part.

Nothing is due until your plan has paid

Baba bills your insurance first. You only hear about a balance once we know what your plan left to you.

  1. Before care begins

We check your plan and explain any expected cost before you enroll.

  2. Your plan pays first

Nothing is collected at a visit or on a call. After services are provided, we send the claim to your insurance.

  3. Your bill arrives

Once your plan processes the claim, we review what it left to you. Any balance appears in Payments in your Baba account and is due 30 days after we send it.

How Baba works with your insurance

Your plan decides what it covers and what share, if any, is yours. Working with Baba does not change your insurance coverage.

We bill your plan directly

Baba sends claims to Medicare, Medicare Advantage, and Medicaid in the states where it covers Baba. You do not file anything yourself.

Your plan’s usual cost-sharing applies

Depending on your plan, a share may be a copay, coinsurance, or an amount toward your deductible, the same as for your other covered care.

Medicaid and QMB coverage are protected

If you have Medicaid or Qualified Medicare Beneficiary (QMB) coverage, we do not bill you for cost-sharing.

Three terms on every bill

Copay

A fixed amount you pay for a covered service.

With a $20 copay, you pay $20 and your plan pays the rest.

Deductible

What you pay each year before your plan starts sharing costs.

With $100 of a $250 deductible already paid, you pay the next $150 of covered care.

Coinsurance

Your percentage of the cost once your deductible is met.

With 20% coinsurance on a $100 service, you pay $20 and your plan pays $80.

If a bill is hard to pay

Both payment options sit in Payments in your Baba account, right below the amount due. You can also call us to talk them through.

Pay over time

Set a monthly amount for any bill. There is no interest and there are no fees.

Ask for payment assistance

If the balance is still too much, you can ask us to reduce it. We may be able to help based on your income or a financial hardship.

Talk it through with us

Our billing team can explain a bill, help you choose an option, or walk through a decision with you.

Common billing questions

For details about your benefits, your insurance plan is the best source.

Why did I get a bill if my plan covers Baba?

Covered does not always mean free. Your plan may leave a copay, coinsurance, or deductible amount for covered care. Most eligible clients pay $0, and any share is set by your plan, not by Baba.

When will I get a bill?

Only after your plan has processed the claim and we have reviewed the amount it left to you. Claims can take several weeks to process, depending on your plan.

Do I pay anything at a visit or on a call?

No. Nothing is collected at a visit or on a call. Any amount you owe is billed after your insurance pays its part.

How do I pay?

Sign in to Baba and open Payments. You can pay the full amount by card or set a monthly amount. A balance is due 30 days after we send it.

I have Medicaid. Will I get a bill?

No. If you have Medicaid or Qualified Medicare Beneficiary (QMB) coverage, we do not bill you for cost-sharing. If you receive a bill you believe is wrong, contact us.

Can a family member pay or ask about my bill?

Yes. A caregiver linked to your Baba account can see and pay your bills, and can ask our billing team about them.

Questions about a bill?

Our billing team can explain a balance, set up a monthly plan, or help you ask for assistance.
